The Kamenice Synagogue Foundation.
The Foundation was established in 2025 in Czechia under the Act No. 89/2012 Coll., the Civil Code, with a specific purpose. It is a ‘voluntary, non-governmental and non-political non-profit organization of citizens who have joined together to actively commemorate the history and preservation of the cultural heritage of the Jews in Kamenice nad Lipou and its surroundings, to popularize this goal and to carry out activities of general benefit in this area’.
Its primary initial aim is to preserve the synagogue building for posterity, ensure there are sufficient funds to maintain it for the future, establish the building as a cultural and education centre for the region, promote the history of the Jewish community in the region and link with other cultural and heritage activities.
The Foundation is run entirely by volunteers with an interest in preserving the history of the Jewish community. These are predominantly people living in the town, people living in Czechia with a connection to the town, or people living outside Czechia but with an interest in the preservation of the history of the Jewish community.
